The India Seatrade Award for Excellence in Coastal Shipping & Inland Water Transport recognizes; institutions, enterprises, and individuals, who have made a difference with their outstanding contributions to growth & expansion of Coastal Shipping & Inland Water Transportation of the country. Now the 4th year, these awards is to reward; consistent leadership, significant efforts, exceptional commitments and path-breaking initiatives taken in developing, supporting and scaling coastal shipping and inland water transportation in India.

These awards while applauding sustained excellence in approach, engagement and implementation are also aimed at encouraging similar efforts to be initiated and taken up across the country to make a shift and augment the use of these modes of transport. We on our part are committed to develop these awards and make it one of the most credible, authentic and sought after recognitions in Coastal Shipping and IWT in India. Inviting you to participate! Award categories & Criteria

Port of the Year

A Major, Private or State (minor) Port or a Terminal that has been handling coastal cargo. Infrastructure, port/terminal related tariff, turn-around time, handling charges, facilities and services, year on year growth, including special initiatives and steps taken to promote coastal cargo will form the basis for selection.

Emerging Port of the Year

A Major, Private or State (minor) Port or a Terminal that has been taken initiative in promoting coastal cargo. Infrastructure, port/terminal related tariff, turn-around time, handling charges, facilities and services, including special initiatives and steps taken to promote coastal cargo will form the basis for selection.

Coastal Container Vessel Operator of the Year

A shipping line that has done exceptionally well and outnumbered its competitors in coastal container cargo volumes moved. Separate award will be conferred for Pan India, West Coast and East Coast services. Nominations will also be weighed against the current fleet size owned/chartered, cost of shipping being charged, service satisfaction attained, number of ports being called including the frequency of service, year on year growth, innovation and new concepts created, including marketing and other campaigns taken up for awareness and business generation and in propagating the use and benefits of coastal shipping.

Coastal Vessel Operator of the Year

Award will be conferred for Ro-Ro, Bulk, Break-Bulk, POL, LNG and Project Cargo. A vessel owner or agent that has done exceptionally well and outnumbered its competitors in Non-Containerized coastal cargo volumes moved. Nominations will also be weighed against the current fleet size owned/chartered, cost of shipping being charged, service satisfaction attained, number of ports being called including the frequency of service, innovation and new concepts created, including marketing and other campaigns taken up for awareness and business generation and in propagating the use and benefits of coastal shipping.

Bunker Barge Operator of the Year

A Bunker Barge Operators who has done exceptionally well and outnumbered its competitors in bunker volume moved. Nomination will also be weighed against the current number of barges owned/chartered, the cost of transport being charged, service satisfaction attained, number of contract in hand, year on year growth, innovation and new concepts created, including marketing and other campaigns taken up for awareness and business generation and in propagating the use and benefits of bunkering.

Inland Vessel Operator of the Year

An inland water transport operator who has done exceptionally well and outnumbered its competitors in inland cargo volumes moved. Nominations will also be weighed against the current number of inland vessels/barges owned/chartered, the cost of transport being charged, service satisfaction attained, number of contracts in hand, no of terminals/destinations called including the frequency of service, year on year growth, innovation and new concepts created, including marketing and other campaigns taken up for awareness and business generation and in propagating the use and benefits of inland water transportation.

Coastal Container Operator of the Year

A container operator or agent that has done exceptionally well and outnumbered its competitors in coastal cargo volumes moved. Nominations will also be weighed against the current container owned/chartered, cost of container being charged, service satisfaction attained, number of customers, services, year on year growth, innovation and new concepts created, including marketing and other campaigns taken up for awareness and business generation and in propagating the use and benefits of coastal shipping.

Cargo Owner of the Year

Public sector units, owned by the centre or state or a private enterprise that have been successfully using coastal shipping as one of the mode for transporting their raw material or finished product are eligible to nominate them for this award category. Type and volume of material transported through the coastal route, year on year growth, infrastructure, institutional framework and initiatives taken-up to maximize the use of coastal shipping and the value / percentage of cost savings / advantage attained will be the criteria for choosing the winners.

Cargo Consignee of the Year

Public sector units, owned by the centre or state or a private enterprise that have been successfully using coastal shipping as one of the mode for transporting their raw material or finished product are eligible to nominate them for this award category. Type and volume of material transported through the coastal route, year on year growth, infrastructure, institutional framework and initiatives taken-up to maximize the use of coastal shipping and the value / percentage of cost savings / advantage attained will be the criteria for choosing the winners.

Novel Idea of Cargo Conversion of the Year

An organization it has come up with a novel idea which has been catalysts in the growth of Coastal Shipping. .

New Entrant Coastal Cargo Owner of the Year

Public sector units, owned by the centre or state or a private enterprise that have been successfully shifted to coastal shipping as one of the mode for transporting their raw material or finished product are eligible to nominate them for this award category. Type and volume of material transported through the coastal route, infrastructure, institutional framework and initiatives taken-up to maximize the use of coastal shipping and the value / percentage of cost savings / advantage attained will be the criteria for choosing the winners.

Coastal Forwarder of the Year

A freight forwarder who has done exceptionally well and outnumbered its competitors in Coastal Cargo volumes handled can nominate them for this award. Type and volume of cargo handled, year on year growth, service network, cost competitiveness, customer satisfaction and strengths in providing end-to-end logistics solution will be the judging criteria for this award.

Coastal Container Transporter of the Year

A regional or national transporter who has been effectively engaged in providing the first and last mile connectivity for coastal container movement will be considered for this award. Fleet size, type and volume of cargo handled, year on year growth, service network, cost competitiveness and customer satisfaction will be the parameters for judging this award.

Logistics Professional of the Year

An individual who has taken exceptional and outstanding efforts to develop, promote and grow coastal cargos in the country. His/her efforts had been pioneering, consistent and sustained in spite of all the challenges, obstacles and lack of support that he/she had to confront from time to time. His/her efforts has been a major contributor to model shift of cargo and growth of coastal shipping and have been appreciated and recognized by one and all.

Leadership of the Year

An individual who has taken exceptional and outstanding efforts to develop, promote and grow coastal shipping operations in the country. His/her efforts had been pioneering, consistent and sustained in spite of all the challenges, obstacles and lack of support that he/she had to confront from time to time. His/her efforts has been a major contributor to the growth of coastal shipping and have been appreciated and recognized by one and all.

Women Entrepreneur of the Year

A women who has taken exceptional and outstanding efforts to develop, promote and grow coastal shipping operations in the country. Her efforts had been pioneering, consistent and sustained in spite of all the challenges, obstacles and lack of support that she had to confront from time to time. Her efforts has been a major contributor to the growth of coastal shipping and have been appreciated and recognized by one and all.

Lifetime Achievement

An individual who has completely dedicated himself for the cause of coastal shipping and has made extensive research/studies/representations in his official/personal capacity and has consistently taken up and confronted issues, concerns and challenges faced in developing, promoting and expanding the use and operations of coastal shipping in the country. He/She is/has been a businessman/government official/academician whose sincerity and efforts have made significant contributions and have been recognized and acclaimed nationally.

The Award will be conferred for Coastal Shipping & Inland Water Transportation, Operational Performance, Year on Year Growth, Efficiency Parameters, Variety of Coastal Cargo handled & Customer Satisfaction, Frequency, Schedule Integrity, Exceptional Contribution to the Growth & Expansion of Coastal Shipping & Inland Water Transportation of the country.

India Seatrade Award Jury & Judging Process

A bench of industry leaders and experts will form the Awards Jury.

Before the final set of nominations is presented to the Jury, all the nominations will be screened/reviewed against the criteria for each award category and the description along with the facts, figures and information that has been provided for claiming the award.

After a detailed analysis and discussion on all nominations received, the Jury shall shortlist three names in each category of award. Thereafter the Jury shall closely re-examine all the facts, figures and information provided in making the claim for the award. They shall authenticate all the details provided and may seek necessary clarification and feedback before finally discussing and zeroing in on the WINNER in each award category.

All the shortlisted nominations will be invited to the gala awards nite and the winners will be announced over a highly impressive and power packed awards ceremony on 22nd September, 2017.

The Jury decision will be final and no correspondence, telephone, email or communication of any kind will be entered into in relation to the decisions reached. The 2017 Awards Jury will be chaired by Shri K. Mohandas (IAS Rtd.), Chairman (former Secretary Shipping, Government of India)

The Entry document should not exceed more than five A4 pages, this shall include two-page of the Entry Form carrying your organization/personal particulars and a 100-word summary of your entry and the other (upto) 3-pages of your justification as to; What makes You the most deserving for this Award?

All achievements and activities described in your submission should have occurred / been on-going within the 12 months prior to the Entry deadline.

The closing date for entries is Friday, June 30th, 2017 Submissions after the closing date may not be accepted. Winners will be announced at the gala Awards Nite in the Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Kochi , Kerala on September 22nd, 2017.
